Introduction
Founded in 2001, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Wenzhou Medical University contains Department of Pharmacy, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Department of Biopharmaceuticals, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Experimental Teaching Center and Practicing Pharmacist Training and Continuing Education Center. The clinical pharmacy program is the first of its kind in Zhejiang Province. The school now offers a number of national and provincial quality courses, and has compiled more than 60 textbooks and undertaken almost 20 teaching reform projects at provincial levels. In addition, the school is the president of the International Chinese Growth Factors Association.

The school has a well-qualified faculty of 102, including 25 professors, 21 associate professors, 79 Ph.D. degree holders, 8 doctoral supervisors, and 42 master supervisors. The college has an advisory committee of well-known domestic and foreign pharmacy experts and engages leading scholars from famous universities abroad to serve as honorary, distinguished, or visiting professors. The college has built a well-structured,high-caliber faculty. The college actively expands international exchanges and cooperation and has established partnerships with world-class universities such as Harvard University, Rockefeller University, University of Louisville, and University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Austria.


The school now has 1314 students, including 13 Ph.D. candidates, over 240 master candidates, over 1000 undergraduates, and over 50 self-taught students. The college has developed a relatively complete pharmacy teaching system covering self-taught students, undergraduates, master and doctoral students. In recent years, our students have won one “first prize” (2018) and three "second prize" (two for 2017, 2018) in the national “Challenge Cup” contest, and a "top prize" and a "first prize" in Zhejiang’s "Challenge Cup”.

Achievements
In recent years, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences has received the National Technological Invention Award, Chinese Medical Association/ Pharmaceutical Association Technology Award, China Association of Integrative Medicine Technology Award and Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. The school has undertaken a number of major national projects funded by the National Major Drug Discovery Project, 863 Program, and 973 Program, The school has obtained 104 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 56 Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province projects, with a total funding of 91 million RMB, which is not including the counterpart funding offered by Wenzhou Medical University. The school published 470 papers in SCI journals and holds 59 invention patents, and has appeared as lead author affiliation in industry-leading Journals such as Cell Metabolism, J Am Coll Cardiol, and Trends Pharmacol Sci. Two research outcomes have been tested in space onboard "Shenzhou VIII" space capsule. The school has been highly praised by industry experts for hosting a number of international conferences including the Global Chinese Growth Factors Development Summit Forum, Hong Kong Symposium on Obesity and Diabetes, and China-ROK Bio-industry Exchange Meeting.

Resources
The school has a total lab area of 3270 square meters and a total of over 300 instruments, including 55 advanced scientific instruments such as flow cytometer, confocal microscope, protein quadrupole mass spectrometer, atomic absorption spectroscopy, gas chromatograph mass spectrometer, liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer, and 600MHz NMR. The school implements an increasingly mature internship and teaching system, which includes six field training bases, five university-run technological businesses, and 48 affiliated hospitals, teaching hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. Ten clinical pharmacy research divisions and six discipline development bases in pharmacology and biochemical pharmacy supported by the Zhejiang Province Top Priority Disciplines Program have been established in the internship bases.

Industry partners
We attach great importance to cooperation among businesses, colleges, and research institutes. We have established the country's first university-led, state-certified GAP base for Chinese medicinal materials. We have founded Zhejiang Grostre Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Wenzhou Medical University Biological and Natural Medicine Research Center, Wenyi Tianrui Curcuma Zedoary Technology Development, Wenzhou Anderson Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Wenyi Training Pharmacy, where we apply technology to drive business growth and promote product development. As a result, we are able to provide more employment opportunities for our outstanding students while promoting local economic development.
